Yellow Fly

One of the most aggressive biting insects in Florida, the yellow fly is actually a small species of horse fly.

As with mosquitoes, only the females bite. Unlike mosquitoes, yellow flies are very fast and often difficult to see coming. Sometimes the burning pain of the bite is the first indication a yellow fly is in the area.

These Bad Bugs are generally at their worst between April and June.

They’re more likely to be common near large bodies of water, and prefer to stay under the shelter of the tree canopy.
