Lubber Grasshopper

The Eastern lubber is a king-sized grasshopper that can show up in great numbers in Florida neighborhoods, wreaking havoc on ornamentals, food crops, turf — any plant material soft enough to chew is fair game for these hungry, hungry hoppers.

Experts advise that the best way to fight a small-scale infestation is the old-fahioned way, plucking the insects off of plants by hand.
